A - E¶
Acronyms
Shortened forms of technical terms used in la Vitre documentation and in the product ecosystem.
Annotations (real-time)
A feature that lets you write and draw directly on the shared screen during a call, visible to all participants.
Bluetooth
Wireless technology used to automatically connect the Companion to your la Vitre without entering a code.
Bundle la Vitre
The complete set including the display, stand, mini-PC, audio-video peripherals, and preinstalled software.
Code (temporary)
A numeric code shown on la Vitre and refreshed regularly, used to connect the Companion from the mobile app.
Color of affiliation
A colored half-circle above the name of the la Vitre, visually identifying where annotations come from during multi-site calls.
Companion
Mobile and web app used to control your la Vitre, share your smartphone screen, and access advanced features.
Customer Success Manager (CSM)
A dedicated point of contact who supports onboarding, optimization, and ongoing help for your la Vitre.
Encryption (end-to-end)
Communication protection where only call participants can see and hear the content, following SRTP standards.
Space
A virtual place where multiple la Vitre devices can meet — like a digital lounge for multi-site calls.
F - M¶
Blur (confidential)
Maximum privacy mode (2 taps on the moon) that blurs the interface for all participants and mutes audio and video.
Full duplex
Two-way audio transmission mode: everyone can speak and be heard at the same time, like a natural conversation (people can interrupt each other).
Guest mode
A feature that allows people without a la Vitre to join a call via a link, from any device.
LAN (Local Area Network)
A local network: a set of devices connected within the same location (office, home), enabling fast resource sharing and communication.
Latency
Network transmission delay: the lower it is, the smoother calls and screen sharing are (often measured with a “ping”).
Mini-PC (Windows)
Compact computer integrated behind the screen, running the la Vitre app and managing all functionalities.
Mute mode
Audio privacy mode (1 tap on the moon): participants can still see each other, but can no longer hear one another.
N - S¶
Orientation (portrait)
Vertical positioning of the 86-inch screen, optimized to match natural human height.
Peer-to-peer (P2P)
Direct data exchange between devices without a central server, enabling fast sharing and better availability.
Presence (immersive)
A communication experience that recreates the feeling of being physically in the same room.
Principle of reciprocity
A core principle of la Vitre: any action (mute, confidential, annotation) applies simultaneously to all participants.
QR Code
A code you scan with your smartphone camera to quickly connect to the Companion for la Vitre.
RJ45
A type of Ethernet network cable recommended to connect la Vitre to the internet in a stable way.
Screen sharing
A feature that broadcasts your computer or smartphone screen on la Vitre for all participants.
SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol)
An encryption standard for audio and video communications that secures calls.
T - Z¶
Human scale
The 86-inch portrait screen size, designed to faithfully reproduce human scale and enhance the feeling of presence.
Tap
Action of tapping the hand icon on the screen to start a call with another la Vitre (“knock knock”).
Translation (instant)
Real-time translation feature enabling smooth multilingual conversations between participants.
VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network)
A virtual local network: logical segmentation of a LAN into subnets to better isolate, secure, and manage traffic.
Webhook
An automatic real-time notification sent to another service (Teams, Slack, Google Chat), for example when someone taps (“knock knock”) or joins in guest mode.
Capture zone
The optimal area in front of la Vitre (1.5–2 m) where the user is perfectly visible and audible to remote participants.
