la Vitre interface¶

Understanding the home screen¶

Main elements:

A labelled image is available on this page: Getting started in 3 steps.

Space name: the virtual place you’re in, shown under the la Vitre logo
Your la Vitre name: your identifier at the top of the screen
Colored semicircle: your affiliation color
QR Code + Code: to connect the Companion
Toolbar: main functions on the right side of the screen

Marker

Write, sketch, or draw directly on la Vitre with the marker.
Eraser

Correct what you wrote on the screen. Double-tap to clear the entire screen or remove all shares in one gesture.
Spaces

Find one or more la Vitre devices from your organization in another space. You can also join an external space as a guest to collaborate with partners.
Translation

Don’t speak the same language? Enable translation with instant transcription. More than 60 languages are available.
“Three dots” menu

Access volume, video return, apps, and advanced features.

Access Whiteboard: open a collaborative whiteboard to draw or annotate live.
Help menu

Display quick help only on your screen for sharing content on la Vitre.

Start and manage your conversations¶

Optimal positioning¶

Distance: 1.5 meters from the screen
Height: standing or sitting on a high chair, depending on your comfort
Lighting: prefer natural light facing you
Behavior: be natural, like in a face-to-face conversation

Start the connection¶

Walk up to your la Vitre.
Tap the screen on the hand icon.
Wait for the other person to answer.
Talk naturally.

Privacy modes¶

Shh mode (1 tap on the Moon)

Audio muted, video stays on

You can see each other but cannot hear each other

Reactivate with another tap
Confidential mode (2 taps on the Moon)

Full blur effect: no audio, no video

Maximum privacy preserved

Blurred interface for all participants

Principle of reciprocity: These modes apply simultaneously to all participants in the conversation.

The Companion¶

Once connected to the Companion app, control your la Vitre from your devices: knock/tap, activate Shh or Confidential mode, move your shared elements.

Connecting to the Companion¶

3 connection methods:

QR Code

Open your smartphone camera.
Scan the QR Code displayed on la Vitre.
Follow the automatic link.

Temporary code

Download the “Le Compagnon” app or go to lavitre.me
Enter the code displayed on la Vitre
Confirm the connection

Bluetooth

Turn on Bluetooth on your device.
Detect your la Vitre from the app.
Connect automatically.

Companion features¶

Screen sharing from your smartphone
Mobile camera to show details

Remote control of la Vitre
Invite an external participant to your la Vitre

Zoom and pan¶

Pinch the screen to zoom in or out on an image or presentation
Drag to move

Instant translation¶

Simple principle: “Speak the selected language”

Enable translation via the dedicated icon
Select your conversation language
Speak naturally in your language
Read the translated subtitles that appear

Supported languages: More than 60 languages available.

Spaces¶

Guest mode¶

With guest mode, you share a link so colleagues can join you from any device, without installation
Up to 5 people
la Vitre complements your tools, like Teams, with an immediate and immersive experience

Optimize your experience¶

Goal: forget la Vitre

la Vitre is designed so you can interact as easily as in person. Behave naturally:

Speak normally, as if the other person were in front of you
Move freely, gesture, walk around
Look wherever you want — what matters is the conversation
Be yourself — the technology fades away
